A Slipformed Tower under Construction
Airport Control Tower with varying cross-section from bottom to top.
There are very few contractors in the world who can perform conical slipforming as demonstrated on this project.
This technology was originally developed and perfected by Gleitbau GBG of Salzburg, Austria.

The tower construction is well underway now and the taper is obvious. Note the enclosure below the slipform to protect the green concrete from sun and wind.

The internal staircase shaft is slipformed right along with the outer shell, greatly simplifying the contractor’s job.

The final tower has a pleasing architectural shape which is almost impossible to achieve with any other method of construction.
